Jonny Wookey Memorial Varsity Game

The Jonny Wookey Memorial Varsity Game is an annual competition held between the only two Scottish representatives of the British Universities Ice Hockey Association (BUIHA); the St Andrews Typhoons and the Edinburgh Eagles.

Hosted at the Dundee Ice Arena each year in front of over 1000 fans, the fixture is one of the biggest sporting events in the St Andrews student calendar.

The game is played in memory of Jonny Wookey, a founding member of the Ice Hockey Club in St Andrews. After Jonny tragically passed away just prior to his graduation in 2012, the Wookey Game was established both as a tribute and a fundraiser for the Club. Tributes are also made to Kieran McCann, a first-year Typhoon who we sadly lost in 2015.

Results

The Jonny Wookey Varsity is a feisty competition, and one which the Typhoons have dominated since the inaugural fixture in 2013.
